You can depend on USGS maps to locate practically all water features like lakes, ponds, rivers, dams, waterfalls, islands, streams, wetlands, springs and intermittent streams. "Cultural features" is the map term for man made objects: Roads, railroads, trails, cemeteries, power lines, pipelines, towers, buildings, and other structures. Place names and boundaries of states, counties and municipalities, park and reservations are clearly shown. Wooded, open and built up areas are indicated.
